13/12-15/12 Weekend Recap

Rookies

The Rookies faced a test in their second match against Mentone, but the entire team stepped up. Their contributions with the bat, in the field, and with the ball were exceptional. It was great to see the team being pushed and rising to the challenge, which deserves recognition. They came away with a solid 37-run victory.

Under 12C

The U12C side completed their two-day game against Bonbeach over the weekend, unfortunately resulting in a loss. However, significant development is evident across all players in the squad.

Under 12A

Despite the scoreboard, there are encouraging signs of progress within the U12A side. Bodhi Duke stood out, claiming a wicket and conceding just seven runs across his four overs.

Under 14

It was another challenging day for the U14s, but a special thanks goes to the Shannon brothers for stepping in. This young team continues to gain valuable learning experiences.

Under 16

In a nail-biter against Brighton Union, Noah Montgomery starred with a brilliant 66, while Tom D’Zilva contributed an impressive 38. Many of these players are already making an impact in our senior sides and are growing into outstanding members of the Bentleigh Uniting community.

Women’s 1st XI

It was a tough outing for the Women’s 1st XI this weekend. After winning the toss and electing to bat, the team was bowled out for 46. Ormond chased down the total in just nine overs. Despite the result, the team kept their spirits high and played the rest of the game with a positive attitude.

4th XI

The 4th XI faced Kingston Heath with a makeshift lineup, missing several regular players.

  • Kingston Heath: 5/193

  • BUCC: 7/139

    • J. Guttman: 57*

    • T. D’Silva: 25

3rd XI

Batting first, the 3rd XI posted 200, with Keith and Paul D both scoring half-centuries. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough against a strong ESBC team on a lightning-fast ground.

2nd XI

A fantastic win for the 2nd XI over Carnegie South! Chris Lavery and Sam Boontjes shone with the ball, taking three wickets each. Captain Harry Zaia led from the front with an unbeaten 78.

1st XI

The 1st XI secured a great victory, successfully defending 140 by bowling ANA out for 113. Malin Silva was outstanding with figures of 5/37, while Liam Manakis delivered a brilliant 4/23 to seal the win.
