Bentleigh Uniting Cricket Club is proud to celebrate three of our very own stars—Malin Silva, Buddhika De Alwis, and Craig Short—who have been selected in the League Team of the Year! This recognition is a testament to their incredible performances, dedication, and impact on the field throughout the season.
Malin Silva – The Wicket-Taking Machine 🎯
Malin has been nothing short of sensational with the ball, consistently delivering when it mattered most. From tearing through opposition batting line-ups to bowling match-winning spells, his ability to take crucial wickets has played a massive role in our success this season. His standout performances, including a 5/37 haul against Bentleigh ANA, earned him well-deserved MVP votes along the way.
Buddhika De Alwis – The All-Round Powerhouse 🔥
With both bat and ball, Buddhika has been a key contributor all season. Whether stabilizing the innings or dismantling the opposition’s attack, his all-round brilliance made him a vital asset to the team. His 72-run knock against West Bentleigh and multiple crucial bowling performances, including 4/50 against CHAG, showcased his versatility and skill.
Craig Short – The Dependable Keeper 💪
Craig has been a rock in the middle order and a leader by example. His ability to perform under pressure, including a brilliant 54 against Kingston Heath, has been invaluable. Whether helping the team to victory or stepping up in clutch moments, Craig’s consistency and determination have been second to none.
Making the Team of the Year is no small feat, and Malin, Buddhika, and Craig have proven they are among the best in the competition. Their hard work, passion, and performances have not only lifted the team but also inspired the entire Bentleigh Uniting community.
