BUCC REP WRAP-UP 2015-16
Another Rep season has been and gone with several of our Junior stars getting the opportunity to show their cricketing wares at the next level. We had some mixed results, with the highlights being Josh Bregazzi and Campbell James being part of the South East Bayside Breakers Grand Final win in the U14 Male State Championships and also Charlie Power in the SECA Under 12 Mitchell Shield winning team.
SPECIAL THANKS:
To all the hard working Mums and Dads. You are the lifeblood of local cricket. All of you have put in hours and hours of travel, food and drink preparation, washing whites, listening to, watching, breathing nothing but cricket all day everyday through December, January and into February. The dedication you have shown to the cause is to be commended. Your club (and your kids) thank you.
SPECIAL MENTION:
Although they are far from being Junior cricketers, we would like to acknowledge Cadell Duke and Damian Britt for being selected into the SECA Senior representative team.

MICHAEL HARGOOD – SECA Under 21’s rep team
Mick played his 3 games in December purely as a bowler (Boo! The boy can bat!) Two of his games were outstanding with figures of: 8 overs, 4/24 and 7 overs, 4/19. Keep working hard Mick, the rewards will come.

HUGO FERDINAND & RORY DRUMMOND – South East Bayside Breakers U16 Male Dowling Shield
Hugo was very much the all-rounder in the team – scoring 71 runs at 18.5 with a very important knock in the quarter final of 33. He also took 8 wickets with his best being his 3/16 in the same game.
Rory was initially selected in the SECA U16’s Beitzel side, and got the call up late. He impressed early with a score of 23 opening the batting in his first game. He made 40 runs for the tournament.
Unfortunately Hugo and Rory’s team bowed out in the semi-final against Northern Rivers with a washout deciding the result. Great effort fellas.

CONNOR DORROFIELD & PATRICK FRANKLIN – SECA Under 16’s Keith McKay Cup
Paddy has re-joined our junior program this season and we are certainly happy to have him back at Unitingland. He scored 102 runs through the tournament batting in the top 4 with a high score of 32 vs Ringwood District CA. Paddy’s safe hands also got him 5 catches in the tournament.
Connor’s bowling has really come along over the last couple of seasons as evidenced with a fantastic economy rate of just 2.3 runs this rep season. He saved his best for last in the VMCU Keith McKay Shield final with figures of 3/26 off 9 overs.
The final was a very low scoring affair, with Mornington Peninsula hanging on to win by 3 runs. Bad luck, but also a great tournament and experience for Paddy and Connor.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CAMPBELL JAMES & MATT STOUPAS – SECA Under 14’s Russell Allen Shield – Blue
Campbell’s batting shone through during the tournament, scoring 195 runs at an average of 39. His best score coming in the quarter final – 61n.o. Campbell also impressed with the ball taking 9 wickets at an average of 16.9. His best bowling figures were 3/25 in the semi-final vs Eastern CA. Campbell also took 3 catches through the tournament.
Matt also had a great tournament, scoring 101 runs from 6 innings at an average of 25.3. His best score came in round 1 – 48 vs Mornington Peninsula. Matt also had 3 catches and a stumping too.
Unfortunately, our boys lost the final vs Western Region Junior CA. Well done on your hard work in making it to the final boys.

JOSH BREGAZZI - South East Bayside Breakers U14 Male State Championships
Josh’s cricket is coming along in leaps and bounds (son of a gun!) He has fought injury through the winter months and come through it playing some great cricket. From 5 innings, he scored 78 runs at an average of 19.5 batting at 4. His highest score was 32 in the quarter final vs Metropolitan Inner East CA, but arguably his best innings was his run a ball 21 in the grand final vs Metropolitan Inner South East.
Josh was joined by Campbell James who was a late call up for the grand final and we are very happy to say that the boys contributed to a 34-run win in a very high standard game of cricket. Well done boys!

LUKE VORBACH – SECA Under 14’s Russell Allen Shield – Green
Luke was picked in this side as a bowler – although as we have seen on a Friday night, he can also bat. ‘Cookie’ had a fantastic tournament with the ball taking an amazing 14 wickets at 11.7 with an economy of 2.9 runs per over. His best figures were 4/38 off 7 overs. Luke’s team also made the semi-final where they were beaten by Western Region Junior CA by 7 wickets. Well done on your wicket haul Luke.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ISHAAN CHAND – SECA Under 14’s Des Nolan Cup
Ishy is an up and coming all-rounder whose team made it through to the semi-final losing to Eastern CA by 30 runs. Ishy took 4 wickets for the tournament with his best figures a very impressive 2/15 off 8 overs. He also took 2 catches and assisted in a runout. Good stuff Ishy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHARLIE POWER – SECA Under 12’s Mitchell Shield
Charlie came into this tournament looking for back to back success at rep level. We are extremely happy to say that he and his team achieved this with a 5 wicket win over Inner South East CA. Charlie made 26 runs through the tournament batting up and down the order and also took 2 wickets. His runs per over like last season were miserly with examples like 1/6 off 4 and 1/10 off 4 the standouts to go with his 0/11 in the grand final. Well done Charlie.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To all our junior cricketers who trialled with the rep teams throughout winter and into the cricket season – well done. You are all flying the flag for Bentleigh Uniting and your families. Keep up the hard work and the rewards will come.
