U12B AWAY VsOrmond 2
WON 8/152 Vs 8/117
On the scale of beautiful victories, this one was more like Pauline Hanson than Giselle Bunchen. Nonetheless, the U12Bs still got the 6 points with a 35 run win against a determined Ormond outfit.
The boys were well on top after the first week with Wolverine Logan (12) and Monty (9) getting us off to a good start before Knuckles Matthews (32 no) and Noodles Cannington (30 no) took us to a great position at the turn of the innings.
In reply, and with storm clouds brewing, our bowlers got us in a very strong position to have Ormond 4/15 off 13 overs with Richo (2/9) and Knuckles (2/6) taking 2 wickets each in the final few overs before played was abandoned for rain. Ormond were more determined in the second week to post a total of 117 from their 37 overs. Our other wicket takers were The Force Morgan (1/6) and Wolverine Logan (1/14). Air Jordan Palermo, Baumy, The Twist and Aidos all bowled very tight lines and kept Ormond starved of much needed runs while Disco Hannan and JR Ramalinga combine to provide a fantastic Tim Paine-esque effort behind the stumps.
Our second dig saw Richo (16) lead the way with a solid middle order knock. The Twist (11) played his best innings of the season while Air Jordan Palermo (6) also batted well to help us to a comfortable win. Well done boys!

U12C HOME Vs East Sandy WON 4/101 Vs 8/97
Round 8 was great!!
It’s getting to the pointy end of the season and the team is firing on all cylinders!!
We took on East Sandy for our second last game of the season – Lost the toss and batted first scoring a healthy total to defend with the loss of a couple of unlucky wickets. The bowling/fielding efforts were exceptional!! The team has cut down their sundries and placed real fielding pressure on East Sandy’s batting line up. Jenson threw his body on the line as wicket keeper, to nearly take the catch of the season. The rain washed us out a couple of overs short.
We started early with the second innings bowling, which was obviously the recipe for destruction!!
There were nearly a couple of hat tricks taken with the perfect line and length of the bowling line up!! WELL DONE TEAM EXCEPTIONAL EFFORT!! Hugo had the wicket keeping gloves on taking down the stumps any chance he could ... also taking an excellent catch.
The batting efforts of the remaining boys was brilliant only needing 44 to get the chocolates. The boys showed great discipline with the bat, showing how far they have come from the start of the season well done boys.
This was definitely the match of the season!! You all should be so proud of where you are now as a team. Each and every one of you has excelled!!
Great effort team!!

U12D3 HOME Vs Ormond 4 LOST 6/155 Vs 6/177
It was a game of two halves. Ormond all out 177 v BUCC 6/155.
The boys batted well on the first week, but they struggled in the field, allowing Ormond to score more than they should have, with their aggressive running in between wickets. In the second week, we came back well with 5 run outs. Dean, Will, Charlie, Kohen & Christian all got run outs.
The batting was terrific. Kohen lead the way with 32. He smashed many boundaries and ran well with Ryan who scored a very impressive 19. Charlie hit a six on the way to 17 and was run out by Dean who was filling in for the other team, rather unfortunate. Eamon and Will batted well together scoring 13 and 12 each and Christian scored 9 at the end. Dean was solid with 10 and picked up a wicket.
Well done to the boys for fighting hard in tough conditions

Rookies AWAY Vs Brighton Union
WON 6/143 Vs 14/102
Week 1 - 1/2/20
Bowling first against one of the stronger teams the boys knew it was going to be a tough game. Brighton started well but the lion cubs recovered well to take 10 wickets from the 20 overs, with Ethan Palermo 3 wickets and Leo Stafford 2 wickets both bowling well.
Our batters tried their best to score finding the gaps with Archie Flegeltaub and Ethan Palermo both top scoring with 13. Unfortunately, we lost 12 wickets throughout the innings which proved costly in the end, going down by 37 runs, 159-122.
Week 2 - 8/2/20
Bowling first the boys were keen to turn things around from the previous week. A combination of accurate bowling and good fielding led to a season high of 14 wickets for the innings. Archie Flegeltaub and Ethan Palermo both claimed 3 wickets, Ben Dessent 2 wickets and Lucas Ramalinga had a direct hit run out from mid wicket but the biggest highlight for the innings was the team hat trick!
The boys improved their batting from the previous week as they kept the score ticking over and only losing 6 wickets for the innings. Lucas Ramalinga 13 runs and Ben Dessent 12 made the most runs but all the batters contributed in what was a great team effort winning 143-102.

AGCC 16U Round 9 AWAY Vs Kingston Heath LOST 7/83 VS 5/88
(Sunday 2/2/20)
First game back after the Christmas break; the weather was dry, but the ground was still wet from the down pours of the previous day. WPBUCC travelled to Mentone and, with the hosts languishing at the bottom of the ladder, there was some optimism. Toss was won and WPBUCC decide to put KH(Red) into bat.
The wet conditions did cause initial bowling issues as Daisy and Erin raced in to share the first 4 overs; with the ball slipping from their hands on a number of occasions, there was extras added to the scoreboard, but the KH (Red)’s bat was contributing very few runs. As it would eventuate, the number of Wides and No balls would become detrimental to score. Notwithstanding, when our bowlers found their line and length, KH (Red) were restricted to very few runs. Sophie’s 3 over 2 for 5 was the pick of the bowling. Closely followed by Matilda, who only conceded 9 runs from her 3 overs. Paige, Emily and Sophie shared the last three over of the 20 overs for only 4 runs in total. KH (Red) final innings score was 95 runs; this seemed an achievable target to chase.
KH (Red)’s position on the ladder did not reflect the ability to bowling tightly and field as a boisterous unit. Runs were again very difficult to come by; however, it wasn’t until the 10th over that they were able to take our first wicket. Paige, Imogen and Breanna, tried to increase the run rate, but were stifled by a deep bowling order. It wasn’t until Erin and Daisy came to the crease, at 8 and 9, that the opportunity for runs arrived. Erin was caught on 12 runs and Daisy hit a quick fire 12 off six balls to close the inning off with the score trailing by 21 at 74. The score off the bat was on par, but unfortunately the extras swayed the balance in KH (Red)’s favour.
Hoping the Christmas rust has been removed, as next week we visit Parkdale (Blue) for the next chapter of our cricketing education.

Round 10 AWAY Vs Parkdale (Blue) LOST 7/91 Vs 3/146
(Sunday 9/2/20)
Another away game at Parkdale, but, after years of playing on an oval that resembled the seaside, we had the pleasure to play at Gerry Green Reserve on turf, with a tree lined vista and changing rooms with running hot and cold water plus flushing toilets. Toss was lost, and Parkdale decided to bat. With two Victorians at the crease, WPBUCC had to bowl well. Sophie and Matilda both bowled great lines, but the length was too full, and this gave the openers opportunity to hit without any hindrance from the ball off the turf. The scoreboard raced to 50 within the first 5 overs, but the first success came when Imogen clean bowled Mia Perrin and finished her 3 over for 2/15 – Great effort. Wides/No balls and Byes were all kept to a minimum and Breanna and Erin each bowled their 2 overs by only conceding single figures, with a single wide between them. They finished with figures of 0/7 and 0/9 respectively. This a great improvement from last week, where our extras was an impediment. Parkdale final innings score was 3/146; this was a great to stem the runs in the last 15 overs.
Parkdale opening bowlers were fast and the lower bounce from the turf was something that the WPBUCC players were unfamiliar with. Wickets fell early, as we got to 3/17, Daisy was joined in the middle by Paige and then Darby. All three of them valued their wicket and retired after facing their 20 ball. Hitting runs too, brought some scoreboard respectability. All three had the opportunity to come back to the crease for the final overs and Paige finished on 6 before being bowled and Daisy and Darby both ended the inning not out with 33 and 5 runs respectively.
Final WPBUCC score came close to triple figures but fell short at 7/91.
Very good effort and spirit in the team against one of the Top 2 sides in the competition. This confident will put us in a good position to springboard into our last two games, in our efforts to get the opportunity to play in the plate competition at the end of the regular season.

Round 11 (29/1/20) AWAY Vs Cluden WON 6/88 Vs 4/81
This week we ventured to William St Reserve to take on Cluden on a warm summer afternoon. We won the toss and elected to field. Grace, Clem and Jasmine all took wickets (with some help from Jess behind the stumps). Avani also dazzled with a superb runout. Gloris also bowled well and Cluden finished on 4/81.
Jasmine and Clem went out to bat. Jasmine, who has shown great form with the bat recently was unfortunately runout, but then Avani stode to the crease and was a batting superstar (finishing with 22 – which included 4 fours). Clem hung in and ended with 10 (including 1 four). Rowen also batted well, finishing on 15. A great team effort, we finished with 6/88. A great win for our team.
Round 12 (5/2/20) AWAY Vs Parkdale LOST 6/41 Vs 1/167
Away for a second week in a row we travelled to Parkdale’s home turf. Parkdale are on top of the ladder and were desperate to win to hold their position. Anna returned from illness and was captain this week. Parkdale won the toss and elected to bat. They played some amazing shots in their innings. Our girls bowled well, with Avani our best with 1/22 (thanks to a beautiful catch behind the stumps by Jess). Parkdale finished with 1/167.
When it was our turn to bat, Rachel bravely volunteered to face and was unlucky to be caught behind. Our best were Jess on 10 and Sasha on 6 (including a 4). Clem also batted well, retiring and returning to the crease later in the innings. Unfortunately, we finished well short 6/41, but it was a good learning experience and we are looking forward to our game this week at home.
